WMUA Dance Party May 6 at Divas in Northampton, MA





















Thursday May 6 in the side room at Divas Night Club, during the See You Next Thursday party, WMUA DJs Root, Studebaker Hawk, and Mimi Broochmen will be spinning the finest in funk, afrobeat, disco, house, soul, and funky breaks. Divas is located at 492 Pleasant St in Northampton, MA. The party is 18+ and kicks off at 10PM. More information is available at www.wmua.org and www.synthursday.com. Macho City Playlist 4/28/10

This week Suzan Seymour of the The LGBT Coalition of Western MA (www.lgbtcoalitionwma.org) and Pride Promotions (www.nohopridepromos.com) came down to talk about the Northampton Pride festivities happening this weekend. The LGBT Coalition is sponsoring the Dyke Rally, Dyke March, and Dyke Dance, on Friday April 30, before the Pride March on Saturday May 1 and parties that night. Macho City Playlist 4/21/10


On this week's Macho City, record dealer Giovanny Zuniga (http://www.discogs.com/user/SpinThatRecords) and I, played only records that will be for sale at WMUA's Spring Vinyl Fair this Sunday. April 25 in the Cape Cod Lounge, in the Student Union, on the campus of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 20 dealers as well as the station, will be selling over 20,000 vinyl records and CDs. It's 11-5PM and free admission. WMUA DJs, including Studebaker Hawk, will be spinning sets throughout the fair.

Guesting on Clandestino to promote WMUA's Spring Vinyl Fair


On 4/19/10, I stepped in on the Clandestino show. On WMUA's Monday's from 12-2:30PM EST is Tabula Rasa with Victor, and 2:30-4:30 is Clandestino with Andujar (check Andujar's blog at peaceandrhythm.blogspot.com/). This week Victor and Andujar decided to tag team for a four and a half hour block of funky music from around the world. I came on to play funky records that I'll have for sale at WMUA's Spring Vinyl Fair this Sunday. Later on Macho City, I had an interview and performance by Western Mass balearic group Sylphid (http://www.myspace.com/sylphidband). Sylphid will be performing Sunday April 18 during the Flywheel Flea Market, during Flywheel's Grand Reopening. Flywheel is a performing arts space in Easthampton, MA that has been closed for over 2 years during renovation at their new location. More information on Flywheel is available at www.flywheelarts.org. The Reopening is April 15-18 at 43 Main Street, in downtown Easthampton, MA. The Flea Market runs from 10-3PM, and there are 30 vendors selling all manor of arts, crafts, vinyl records, clothing, refreshments, etc. As well as a performance by Sylphid there will be DJs spinning throughout the market, including myself. Flea is normally every second Sunday of the month, down at Flywheel, but was moved in April to be during the Reopening. The second half of the show was preempted for a baseball game.

Macho City Playlist 4/7/10

This week a few guests came on the show.

First Eric Hnatow (http://www.myspace.com/erichnatow), from the groups HNATIW, LOLFM (http://www.myspace.com/LOLFM), and a producer on his own, came on in promotion of his upcoming gigs at the Flywheel Grand Reopening. Flywheel is a performing arts space in Easthampton, MA that has been closed for over 2 years during renovation at their new location. More information on Flywheel is available at www.flywheelarts.org. The Reopening is April 15-18 at 43 Main Street, in downtown Easthampton, MA. LOLFM will be performing Thursday night, April 15, and HNATIW will be performing Friday night, April 16.





Next, Nikki and Mia from Bright Lights Small City Productions came on to promote their upcoming party The Dead Celebrities Party, Saturday April 10. It's a costume party featuring Too Much Blood: a zombie tribute to the Rolling Stones, as well as performances by Party Wolf, Conduit, and myself on the decks. There'll be costume contests and paparazzi all around, including in a photo booth.
